The most famous of all the great riverside railways is probably the Rhine Gorge railway, beloved of visitors and locals alike. However, there are many more such journeys that are less well known - here are some of our favourites, and we will continue to expand the list.

The classic river journey by rail, the tracks hug the banks of the mighty Rhine as it winds through the steep-sided gorge with its famous castles and vineyards.
