The Blue Train
On a journey of just under 1,000 miles, taking 27 hours at a relaxed pace, the Blue Train is one of the world's most famous trains. Kings, Presidents and many others have travelled on what is described as "a magnificent, moving five-star hotel".
Travelling northbound from Cape Town to Pretoria, the train makes a stop at Matjiesfontein, a perfectly preserved colonial-era village. On the southbound journey, the train stops instead at Kimberley, famous for its open-cast diamond mine.
The Train
The train offers accommodation in De Luxe or Luxury suites - all are en-suite and all have either twin or double beds. The Luxury suites offer their occupants not only extra space and luxurious touches, but all have deep, long baths and all have digital entertainment centres offering radio, music CDs and big-screen movies on DVD.
