Oslo

Norway's capital of Oslo is a modern, vibrant city that looks back on a great past. Legend has it that it was founded by King Harald Hardraada and it has been the capital of Norway since the middle ages. It was for a long while known as Christiania after the Danish-Norwegian king Christian IV rebuilt it after a fire in 1624, but reverted to its old name of Oslo three hundred years later. Modern Oslo is officially branded "The Multicultural City" and sits at the top of the Oslo Fjord, with plenty of delightful excursions within easy reach if you would prefer to escape the city and get back to nature.
