Montreux & Vevey

Elegant Montreux, the 'Pearl of the Swiss Riviera', enjoys an enviable location on the north east shores of beautiful Lake Geneva. Sheltered by the Alps from the cold winter winds, the town is renowned for its pleasant climate, which enables magnolia, almond and palm trees to flourish in the colourful parks and along the lakeside promenades. A wonderful destination in itself, Montreux is also an ideal base for exploring the enchanting Lake Geneva region, with its pretty villages, medieval towns and the dramatic Château de Chillon all within easy reach. A couple of minutes along the lakeshore is the small spa town of Vevey, a small but perfectly formed lakeside resort that was a favourite destination for recuperation from illness - Charlie Chaplin spent his last year here and a statue of him adorns the lakeshore.
