Czech Republic

The Czech Republic lies at the very heart of central Europe and as such, has always been at the crossroads of European cultures and on the front line in some of the great historical movements. The Hussite heresy of the 15th century anticipated Martin Luther's reformation by almost 100 years, and it was the desire of the Bohemians to have religious freedom that sparked the Thirty Years War. The majority of the Czech Republic was spared the fighting and destruction of the two World Wars and remains a popular destination. Most visitors flock to Prague, of course, but there are plenty of other worthwhile places to visit in this small yet perfectly-formed country.
